ACRIA: Unframed & Reframed 2017
Overview
Founded in 1991, Unframed served as the signature annual fundraising initiative for ACRIA, a pioneering organization in HIV/AIDS research, prevention, and education. For its 2017 iteration, the program expanded into its first-ever bi-coastal presentation, spanning custom print and edition releases in New York City alongside a high-profile contemporary art auction and benefit evening at Hauser & Wirth in Los Angeles.
Project Context & Role
Organized both legs of the bi-coastal initiative, overseeing artist collaborations, limited-edition print productions, venue logistics, and institutional partnerships across New York and Los Angeles.
New York: Unframed (Gallery 151)
Returning to the program's origins, the New York edition focused on accessible, high-caliber limited series and custom editions created specifically for the event. The project featured exclusive silkscreens, woodcuts, photography, and unique works on paper produced in collaboration with a curated group of prominent contemporary artists.
Los Angeles: Reframed (Hauser & Wirth)
Curated in partnership with Hauser & Wirth’s Graham Steele, the inaugural West Coast expansion—titled Reframed—brought together over 600 artists, collectors, and philanthropists to the gallery’s Downtown Arts District complex. The event featured a silent auction of blue-chip works, raising over $500,000 for the organization, followed by a celebratory VIP dinner at Manuela.
